Tracking Multiple Statutes

The most widely used feature on Codify is our Statute Feed function, which provides users with highly targeted tracking, on top of organizing updates into customizable topics.

The Statute fead feature which will track a number of statutes, group it under a particular topic, and send an email update to you whenever there is a change.

To access Statute Feeds, simply click on "Statutes", under the Create Feeds heading in the navigation bar.

You will then see the statute feed creator. Here you'll be able to add any number of statutes to your feed. Then, anytime there is a bill which amends the statute, or a regulation which is enabled by this statute, that new item will be added into your feed, and an email alert will be sent out.

In the first phase of the Feed Creation, you'll be asked to select a jurisdiction for your feed. This step is optional, and you can have a feed which covers all Canada.

Usually, it is best to set up Feeds to be jurisdiction specific - this makes setting up the feed easier (as it filters out all items outside of the jurisdiction), but also provides more context in the emails (i.e. instead of an email updated called "Privacy", you'll receive an email update called "Ontario Privacy" or "BC Privacy").

That being said, there are certainly times where setting up a cross-jurisdictional feed makes sense.

In the next step, you'll be asked to input the statutes you want track. To add a statute, start typing its name, and Codify will bring up all the statutes which match, in the jurisdiction you selected in the previous step.

Once you've inputted all the statutes you want, you can move on to the next step.

To track a regulation, and receive updates on when that regulation is being impacted by a new regulation, users can track the enabling statute, getting updates on both bills and regulations.

Email Alerts

Once your statute feed is set up, you'll receive an email alert whenever there is activity.

Statute Feed alerts comes with some key bits of information, including the the name of the bill / regulation, the stage, the date detected, along with links to both the Codify website as well as the government site.
